What is Wordsnake?
Wordsnake is a free online word game that reinvents the classic arcade Snake. Instead of chasing fruit, you guide your snake around a grid of letters, collecting them one by one. The letters trail behind your snake from head to tail, forming a growing string of characters. Spot a valid English word hiding in that string and submit it to bank points, shrink your snake, and clear room to keep hunting for more. Play the three-minute Daily Challenge, a two-minute Blitz round or a ten-minute Classic game and score as high as you can.
How to Play in 30 Seconds
- Move: arrow keys on desktop, or the on-screen D-pad / swipe on mobile.
- Collect letters: steer your snake over letters to add them to your tail.
- Submit a word: press Spacebar (or the ✓ button) to submit the longest valid word ending at your tail.
- Stay alive: avoid the walls and your own body, and beat the clock.

How Scoring Works
Every letter is worth points based on how rare it is in English. Common letters like E, A, and T are worth the least, while rare letters like Q, Z, X, and J are worth the most. A word's score is the sum of its letter values, multiplied by a length bonus: words of five or six letters earn a 1.5× multiplier, and words of seven letters or more earn 2×. That means a long, letter-rich word can be worth far more than a handful of short ones — vocabulary pays off.
Your best word, longest word, and running score are tracked live, and your personal best is saved in your browser so you always have a target to beat.

How do I get a high score?
